Something to smile about ...
Here's a wonderful clip from YouTube -- something from the new season of Britain's Got Talent. You might remember the amazing Paul Potts, last year's winner, who overcame various obstacles to blow the judges out of the water with his rendition of 'Nessun Dorma'.

This kid is awesome. I love the judges' reactions. I love the fact that it's Simon Cowell's opinion that carries the most weight, because Simon has built a career on his Tough Love approach to critiquing. When he says something's good, you can pretty much know that it's really, really good.

And I love this boy, who's shown great courage. I know what it's like to be bullied. It sucks. So good on this boy, I hope he goes far.

What a coincidence that we both wrote about this young man today. He really has a wonderful voice. I am only sorry that he is already 13 when a boy's voice does not have too long to entrance us.

I also posted a fantastic display of athletics set to the music of Swan Lake which was on YouTube as well.

All I could think of was how boys like this used to get castrated ...

I saw this the other night on the news and he took my breath away. I'm so pleased that all the judges gave him encouragement about the bullies as well as his voice. His voice was hauntingly beautiful - just - wow.

I'm so glad you mentioned this. It took forever to download--for some reason YouTube will quit on me after downloading only a few seconds of something and then I have to go hunting around for another version of the same thing--but this was SO worth my time.

I'm rooting for this kid. And I hope and pray that when his voice breaks, it comes back to this quality.

Me too! He's wonderful. And the whole voice breaking thing is such an issue. My fingers are crossed too.
