| The light is still burning ... |

More work done today. The logjam seems to have come unstuck and the words are flowing much more easily. Can I describe the relief? No, actually, I don't think I can!
Do No Harm:
Of course I am going to run over, word count wise. On rewrite it may well cut back closer to 90k, but I'm still figuring the bloody thing out as I go along!
In other news ...
I got some really great news this morning, but I can't talk about it. It's connected to the other great news I can't talk about. Yet. Truly, I'm not trying to sound mysterious, that's just the way it has to be for now!
Trust me. When I can talk about it, you'll know. Because I won't be able to shut up!!!
It's Friday. I have a solid 3 days of serious plough-on-with-it writing to get through between now and Monday. I hope swordfighting Monday night will be my huge celebration that I got through to the end of this hellish first draft!
Also, a while ago I did a round robin interview thing for Amazon.com, and you can read my responses here along with responses from cool fantasy writers!

Everyone else, please have a lovely weekend. Drive safely, play nicely, and help make the world a better, happier place. |

| Quick update |
[Oct. 13th, 2007|04:46 pm] |
This is a weekend of words, leading into a week of more words, as I slam my way through to the end of Do No Harm, draft the first. Current status being:
This isn't my first first draft barbecue. You'd think I'd understand my own processes by now.
But no.
How sad!
I aim to have the sucker finished by the end of next weekend. Feel free to start sending me good luck vibes any time from now ... *g*
Also, please go check out the full edition of the latest Falcata Times. My stupid brain can't remember if this is the URL link I posted before, but this one will get you the fabulous full edition which contains interviews with 2 of my favouritest people, Glenda Larke and Rachel Caine plus other great interviews and news and reviews. Really cool stuff!

| Life is ... |

Hectic and fraught just now, for a variety of reasons. Ah well. Life, she is a carnival and sometimes you step in the elephant poo.
I am slogging my way through the copy-edit rewrite of The Riven Kingdom, armed with notes from many wonderful readers who are helping me be a better writer. I'm closing in on the end, but yikes! My brain, it is melting ...
In the meantime, allow me to point you towards an interview I just did with Graeme Flory, an IT professional and mega spec fic fan who runs his own review blog. He said some very kind things about The Innocent Mage, which makes me smile, and thoughtfully pointed out what he perceived as its limitations, which makes me respect him. Go read the interview and check out his thoughts on other books here:

I owe you all another Fantastic Women interview -- and it's coming. I promise. This week. Aaarrgghhh!
Stay tuned ... |
